APC chieftain hopeful of 2019 victory

Etim Ekpimah, Uyo

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, Chief Samingo Etukakpan, said the success of the party at the state and national conventions was a sign that the party would triumph in the 2019 general elections.

Etukakpan said that the ability of the party’s leadership to build a strong united front despite expectations from detractors that it would be enmeshed in leadership controversy was an indication that APC was prepared to take Nigeria further in terms of good governance.

He added that the so-called new faction of the party in Akwa Ibom State was insignificant, noting that the party had only one state executive which had been authenticated during the party’s national convention in Abuja.

Etukakpan said this in Eket on Saturday during the gathering of Ward 4 Urban in his residence to fine-tune activities for the party ahead of 2019 general elections.

According to him, the party has been positioned in the state and national levels to win the forthcoming general elections in February 2019, stressing the need for members not to go to bed with the notion that all is well.

“We have to work harder to build new frontiers and consolidate on our existing structures by taking advantage of the failures of the ruling party in the state.”

“The All Progressives Congress must take over Akwa Ibom State in 2019 by installing all our candidates in the State House of Assembly, the National Assembly and finally occupy the Hilltop Mansion (Government House in Uyo).”

He praised the efforts of the Board of Trustees’ members and the caucus chairman of the party, Atuekong Don Etiebet; Obong Nsima Ekere, Obong Umana Umana; Senator John Akpan-Udohedehe, and Ita Enang, among others,  for their contributions to the success of the state convention of the party.

Etukakpan called on the members of the party in Eket to go all out and ensure that the people at the grassroots were sensitised on the importance of having their permanent voter cards for the upcoming general elections.

He congratulated the newly elected State Executive of the party headed by Mr. Ini Okopido and called on all APC members in the state to support the new executive.

The highlight of the meeting was the inauguration and empowerment of a seven-man sensitisation committee with the mandate to preach the gospel of permanent voter card to the electorates in Ward 4 Urban and the entire Eket Local Government Area.

Responding, chairman of the PVC sensitisation committee, Mr. Johnson Etukudoh, thanked members of the party in Ward 4 Urban for the confidence reposed in them and assured that they would deliver on their mandate accordingly.
