For the first time in their history, the Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup champions.

Devante Smith-Pelly and Lars Eller scored two minutes and 31 seconds apart to erase a third-period deficit Thursday in Game 5, lifting Washington to a 4-3 victory and Stanley Cup Final triumph over the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.

Alex Ovechkin also scored in the win, and was finally able to celebrate a championship in his 13th NHL season.
