Aaron Wise capped off his first-ever PGA Tour win Sunday with an awkward moment forever frozen in time.
Finishing three strokes over Marc Leishman during the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas, Wise, 21, was awarded $ 1.38 million in prize money. Following a post-tournament interview, Wise was greeted by a blond lady friend, who congratulated him with a hug instead of a kiss.
The cringe-worthy exchange has since made the rounds online, with many offering colorful commentary.
“If 1.3M doesn’t get you a kiss I don’t know what will,” tweeted one user.
“Good lord my skin is crawling,” penned another.
“Absolutely brutal. She’ll deeply regret this the more lucrative his career becomes,” shared another.
Thankfully for all involved, it’s been reported the woman in question is girlfriend and fellow University of Oregon student Reagan Trussell.
“First 🏆 on the @pgatour What a special moment to share with my team! This has been something i have dreamed of ever since i was a little kid, and a memory i will never forget,” Wise wrote Monday on Instagram. “Thanks to everyone involved with putting on such a first class event @attbyronnelson I cant wait to come back and defend next year.”
