MAN UNITED MET WITH LAZIO OVER MILINKOVIC-SAVIC
We are not familiar with Il Messaggero, but don’t let that dampen your spirits. They claim that they have inside information on Manchester United’s possible move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Il Messaggero say that Lazio met with officials from Manchester United and Real Madrid to discuss a possible move for the midfielder. They say meetings took place last Friday, and could result in bids from one or both clubs.
It is reportedly going to take an offer of £130m to prise Milinkovic-Savic away from Lazio. If that is the case, Manchester United would be bloody foolish to prioritise him over other positions within the team. Particularly given that they have already signed Fred.
LIVERPOOL CAN HAVE JUVENTUS SQUAD PLAYER
From Rome to Turin, and another Premier League club wanting to sign a Serie A midfielder. Recent reports in the Italian press have suggested that Liverpool are keen on Juventus’ Marko Pjaca, part of the Croatian squad who will face England in their World Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening.
Gazzetta dello Sport say that Liverpool have made an enquiry for Pjaca, and have been quoted a price of £22m. Juventus are looking to clear out a number of fringe players, and Pjaca is clearly one of those. He didn’t play a minute in Serie A last season, loaned to Schalke where he also failed to establish himself as a key first-team player.
With that in mind, are Liverpool really going to pay more than £20m for him? We’ll be very bloody surprised.
CHELSEA OPEN DOOR TO HAZARD MOVE
Well well. If Chelsea weren’t half-buggered enough with the lack of progress on a new manager and Roman Abramovich threatening to pull his wealth out of the UK, it now appears that an ‘Eden Hazard to La Liga’ saga is getting underway.
Catalan newspaper Sport say that Barcelona see Hazard as an ideal addition to their attack, although that’s surely a spiky response to Real Madrid interest. Such is the nature of the Spanish sporting press.
More interesting is the claim that Abramovich and Chelsea are open to the idea of selling Hazard this summer, as long as they can command the requisite fee. With no Champions League this season, and having put up with Chelsea’s lurches before, you can hardly blame Hazard for wanting out.
EVERTON AND DORTMUND WANT ZAHA
The future of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha just will not go away. The more Zaha says that he is happy with life at Palace and wants to stay, the more media outlets link him with a move away from South London.
The Sun have an exclusive with claims that Borussia Dortmund will use the money they gain by selling Andriy Yarmolenko to West Ham to fund a move for Zaha, and they add that Zaha wants to move to a big club this summer.
The Daily Mirror say that Zaha is desperately wanted by Marco Silva at Everton, but are worried that Zaha will take a lot of persuading to move back up north after the failed move to Manchester United.
Also, why would Zaha join Everton? Surely if he’s going to leave Palace, his hometown club, it would be for a truly elite team.
AND THE REST
Manchester City have made a move for Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid, after doubts over their move for Jorginho surfaced… Newcastle United are hoping to sign Chelsea winger Kenedy on loan in the next few days… West Ham could target Sevilla midfielder Franco Vazquez.
