Liverpool will start the season with Loris Karius as their first-choice goalkeeper after being ‘priced out’ of moves for Roma’s Alisson and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak; the former is now likely to join Chelsea.
The Reds had given up on signing the Brazilian as they were quoted fancy prices and told that he was only interested in joining Real Madrid.
But now Italian newspaper Il Tempo claim that Alisson now prefers Chelsea as a destination, having been offered about £8,000 more per week by the Stamford Bridge club than Real Madrid.
Nothing will happen until after the World Cup but it is thought that the transfer will go through for around £65m including bonuses.
His arrival will presumably lead to Thibaut Courtois’s return to Spain.
