Liverpool target Nabil Fekir “will be at Lyon next season” according to the club’s president.
Fekir was close to becoming Liverpool’s third signing of the summer when the Reds agreed a fee with Lyon and personal terms with the player.
But confusion over Fekir’s medical, with Liverpool asking for a second opinion on a pre-existing knee injury, caused Lyon to call off negotiations.
Some reports state Liverpool will reignite their interest when Fekir returns from World Cup duty with France, but Jean-Michel Aulas suggests that Lyon will hold out even if they do.
“I think that Nabil will be at OL next season,” he told RMC Sport.
“I have almost a father-son relationship with my players, I gave him the chance to go to Liverpool because it was his dream club.
“I did that too with Tolisso and Umtiti, he is our captain and it is the coach’s wish to keep him.”
