Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku could return for Manchester United, in a huge injury blow ahead of the game against Manchester City.
Lukaku has not featured this month, with his last appearance coming as a second-half substitute against former club Everton.
The Belgian has not even been a part of the two subsequent matchday squads, with injury sidelining him for the comeback victories over both Bournemouth and Juventus.
United’s attack has looked far better in his absence, but Mourinho says he could return to face the champions on Sunday.
“Lukaku is training with the team this morning,” Mourinho confirmed.
“If this answer is positive – and we have of course one more session tomorrow – if the answer is positive, he’s ready.
“But in this moment I can only say he trains with the team. I don’t know his answer.”
Mourinho: “No new injuries. So from Juventus, we don't bring important injuries. We have 'touches' but I don't think any player that was available for Juventus will be out. We have a chance – it is Friday morning now – that Lukaku could be back.“ #mufc [MUTV]
