Woodward considers the possibility of hiring Evra – reports

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is set to offer Patrice Evra a new role at Manchester United, according to reports.

Evra was at Old Trafford for nine seasons in a playing capacity and made 379 appearances in all competions for the club, winning five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Champions League.

The Frenchman most recently played for West Ham at the end of last season but is currently without a club.

Evra has attended a number of United fixtures recently with Woodward and has even been allowed into the dressing room to see the players.

The United hierarchy are looking to bring in a director of football but the Daily Mail thinks it is more likely that Evra will be given an ambassadorial role at the club.

The report claims that the 37-year-old gets on well with current United players Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial and that the club are working out the best way to utilise Evra.

Michael Carrick was recently hired as part of Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff, while Paul Parker, Dennis Irwin and Gary Pallister are all former players that have been hired by the Red Devils in the past.
